NASHVILLE, TN. (Broken Bow Records) - Broken Bow Recording star and Army veteran CRAIG MORGAN is scheduled to perform a special concert for spouses, volunteers and members of the 101st Airborne Division at (Air Assault) Fort Campbell on
September 8, 2005.
Morgan will join volunteers from the Jack
Daniel Distillery, the Brown-Forman Corporation, and the USO for a 'Stuffing Party' that day to assemble more than 10,000 USO Care Packages for troops serving abroad.
Other special guests invited include the First Ladies of Kentucky and Tennessee governors, the spouses of the Kentucky and Tennessee United States Senators and spouses of the U.S. Representatives from the Fort Campbell district. Miss America 2000 and veterans' affairs advocate Heather French Henry will also attend.
After the work is done, the fun begins - volunteers will be treated to a barbecue and a special performance by country music star and 11-year U.S. Army veteran Craig Morgan.
During his duty in the U.S. Army, Morgan participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama, tours in Korea and other conflicts. He currently has the fastest rising single of his music career with 'Redneck Yacht Club,' the follow-up to his five-week No. 1 hit, 'That's What I Love About Sunday.' 'Redneck Yacht Club' is currently at No 10 with a bullet on both the Billboard and the R&R country singles charts.
The party is the culmination of Jack Daniel's 'Toast to the Troops' campaign. Earlier this year, the Distillery donated $100,000 to help purchase the USO Care Packages and began collecting messages of support in the form of 'toasts' to include in each package. The Care Packages will include disposable cameras, prepaid international calling cards, toiletries, sunscreen and other items specifically requested by the servicemen and women stationed overseas.
WHAT: 150 volunteers from the Jack Daniel Distillery, Brown-Forman, Fort Campbell and the USO will assemble thousands of USO Care Packages to be sent to the troops serving overseas. The 'stuffing party' will end with a barbecue and a celebration concert by country music star Craig Morgan.
