
LOS ANGELES (UMe Records) - A quintessential album of popular rock, and one of the '80s biggest sellers, Bon Jovi's "Slippery When Wet" recalls that decade with an audio/video release in the new dual disc format. "Slippery When Wet" (Island/Mercury/UMe), released
September 20, 2005, presents the original album in stereo on the CD side and in 5.1 Surround Sound and high-resolution stereo on the DVD side. The latter also includes the music videos for "You Give Love A Bad Name," "Livin' On A Prayer," "Wanted Dead Or Alive," "
Never Say Goodbye" and "Wild In The Streets."
The release follows the success of late 2004's "100,000,000
Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong...," a mammoth box set comprised largely of previously unreleased recordings from the band's vast archive. With "Slippery When Wet" originally issued in 1986 and
Bon Jovi debuting its latest album, "
Have A Nice Day" - also on
September 20 - the albums bookend nearly 20 years of a truly epic career in rock. Certified 12 times platinum, "Slippery When Wet" earned a prestigious Diamond Award in 1995.
The group's landmark album was produced by Bruce Fairbairn, engineered and mixed by Bob Rock and recorded in Vancouver, British Columbia. "Slippery When Wet" was the band's third album, after 1984's "Bon Jovi" and 1985's "7800 Fahrenheit."
"Slippery When Wet" was the fulfillment of the band's dream. The album reached No 1, as did the singles "
You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Livin' On A Prayer." Also peaking in the Top 10 was "Wanted Dead Or Alive." All three songs became musical touchstones. "
Never Say Goodbye" became a Top 20 Mainstream Rock hit. The album's other tracks included "I'd Die For You," "Without Love," "Raise Your Hands," "Social Disease" and "Let It Rock."
