NASHVILLE, TN. (www.aarontippin.com) - Country superstar Aaron Tippin can sympathize with the relieved astronauts of Shuttle Discovery following their safe landing in California today after two weeks in space. After all, Aaron himself safely landed a shuttle simulator at Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas in 2003 during a taping of his GAC series Made In America. Lieutenant Rick Sturckow invited Aaron in 2003 to visit the space center based on mutual admiration, as both Aaron and Rick are aviators. Aaron quickly accepted the invitation, especially after learning the admiration extended beyond the skies. Lieutenant Sturckow played 'Big Boy Toys' in space during his 1998 Endeavour flight as a wake-up call for the astronauts. 'Out of all the years I spent in aviation, I had to become a country music singer before I could fly a space shuttle simulator,' Aaron laughed today while watching the coverage of the Discovery landing. After admitting that the landing was difficult at the time, Aaron confessed that he would most definitely jump back in that saddle. In fact, Aaron is jumping back into the studio to wrap up vocals on his new album, his first in four years, on Lyric Street Records due out this fall.
