NASHVILLE, TN. (www.danielsmithmusic.net) - With his fresh, original sound, new country singer/songwriter
Daniel Smith is gearing up to be a force to be reckoned with within the realm of country music. His style fuses country with elements of rock creating a unique sound all his own. This is demonstrated in his new CD, entitled, "American Made".
The new album is full of hooky up-tempo, hopping country-rock songs, along with sweet ballads that were all written by Daniel. The CD includes "Thank You" (Tribute to the American Soldier), "What U See Is What U Get", and "Right Side Of Love" plus eight other original songs!
Daniel Smith was born in Kentucky and raised in the small suburb of Latonia, just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. While attending high school, his parents reluctantly purchased him a drum kit, which he banged on mercilessly for hours on end, not knowing that the seeds of his musical aspirations were being planted. He continued to teach himself and was about to be rewarded.
In February of 1991, during college, he met up with some local guys looking to jam and needed a drummer. The jam sessions soon turned into playing fraternity parties and then into gigs at local clubs and the rock and roll band, "NO EXIT" was formed. Daniel had always sung backup vocals but when the lead singer was forced to quit, Daniel took over main vocals, singing and playing drums to packed houses wherever they performed and allowed him to gain valuable stage experience.
The members of the band went their separate ways in mid 1994 due to outside commitments. After the breakup of the band, Daniel purchased a guitar and taught himself to play, thereby enabling him to write music, a new avenue for him. He would continue to perform as a solo act throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.
Having a strong love for country music, including being influenced by both traditional and modern styles, in 1996 he veered away from rock and roll and began writing country songs. In December 2000 he recorded a four-song demo of self-penned songs, though none successfully signed by Nashville publishers. However, he accepted the criticism and critiques and persevered with his songwriting.
In July of 2002, Daniel made the commitment to move to Nashville and pursue his dream of being a singer/songwriter full time. Growing as both a tunesmith and artist, he's now had songs published by several Nashville publishers and has generated interest as an artist as well. Recently, he wrote a song that he describes as 'a thank you card for our military, both those that currently serve and the veterans'.
His aspirations are simple: To make a career out of music entertainment while doing something he truly loves. As he states it, 'There's no better high than performing live!'
