LOS ANGELES (Steve Miller Official Website) - Renowned blues/rock singer-songwriter-guitarist Steve Miller will be inducted into Guitar Center's Hollywood Rockwalk on Sunset Blvd. on July 11th at noon.
The Steve Miller Band has sold 23.5 million records since its 1968 Capitol debut, Children of the Future, the album that launched the bands' 37 year career. From a young age Miller was influenced by a variety of musicians such as Charles Mingus, Les Paul, T. Bone Walker, Ricky Nelson and Chuck Berry.
Miller has consistently created his own sound over the years drawing from his introduction to Chicago's Southside blues clubs as well as San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury experimentalism until he surpassed those roots en route to a sound that's wholly distinctive and yet enormously influential on it's own.
The band's most recent album, 2003's Young Hearts - Complete Greatest Hits, traces its complete 35-year affiliation with Capitol and includes the No 1 hits "The Joker," "Rockin' Me" and "Aabracadabra" as well as "Take The Money and Run," "Space Cowboy," "Fly Like An Eagle," "Livin' in the USA," "Jungle Love," "Jet Airliner" and numerous other favorites.
The Steve Miller Band is currently on a 23 city tour across the country.
Hollywood's RockWalk is the only sidewalk gallery dedicated to honoring those artists who have made a significant impact and lasting contribution to the growth and evolution Rock 'n' Roll, Blues and R&B. King, Van Halen, James Brown, George Martin, Sonic Youth, Brian Wilson, Carlos Santana, Carl Perkins, John Lee Hooker, The Ramones, Bonnie Raitt and Holland-Dozier-Holland among others.
