Music Association) - The Americana
Music Association and the
National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) have partnered again to release This Is Americana, Volume 2. The full-length, 20-song CD compilation of new and previously unreleased Americana music will street August 16, 2005. The $1.98 disc includes such artists as Robert Earl Keen, Kathleen Edwards, Mary Gauthier and John Doe.
As with Volume 1, the campaign benefits the NARM Scholarship Fund, and also works to broaden the awareness and sales of Americana music. Ryko Distribution will continue to oversee distribution for the project, co-promoted by Ryko, NARM and the AMA.
"We've already scanned over 50,000 units of This is Americana, Volume 1," says 'Americana Music Association Executive Director Jeff Green. 'We're servicing this exciting collection of top-name acts and several newer artists to key press and radio immediately to help our retail partners drive sales. Response to this campaign from record stores, broadcasters and press has been overwhelmingly positive.
The initiative, which helps kick off September as Americana Music Month, represents the AMA's ongoing efforts specifically geared towards increasing the profile of Americana at both the consumer and industry levels.
The CD includes a detailed four-color booklet featuring information about each song, artist and current album. The Americana Music Association has built a special consumer destination, www.thisisamericana.com, to promote the CD and encourage sales, which will be supported by point-of-purchase materials and in-store marketing.
