NASHVILLE, TN. (BNA Records) - It's been a whirlwind year for BNA Records artist Blaine Larsen. Since graduating high school he's released a critically acclaimed album, had a top 15 single, been to New York City for the first time where he performed on ABC's Good Morning
America and played to record crowds at the CMA
Music Festival.
Now superstar
Kenny Chesney has invited him to open a series of shows beginning with Tacoma, WA on June 25 in what will essentially be a hometown gig for Blaine, who hails from Buckley, WA.
On the upcoming performance, Blaine says, 'This is the first arena show I've ever played on and for it to be basically my hometown and opening for Kenny is incredible. A lot of these people have been watching me play for years. Another awesome thing is that Mr. Bleam, my high school math teacher, is going to play guitar for me on this show. I guess he'll have to cut class for rehearsals the day before,' Blaine joked. David Bleam co-wrote 'That's Just Me' on Blaine's album.
On his friends and family coming to the show, Blaine smiled and issued this alert, 'I'm sorry to say I've already given out all the comp tickets I have so everybody's on their own.' Blaine paused and said, 'On second thought, there may be one solution, Roy who plays drums in the band and lives in the area, his parents bought like 60 tickets so give them a call and see what they can do.'
Blaine's second single, 'The Best Man,' is an autobiographical song about his father's influence in his life, appropriately celebrated in this Sunday's issue (Father's Day) of USA Weekend, which includes a feature on the song and the young singer's life. The Sunday supplement is distributed in more than 600 newspapers across the country.
