NASHVILLE, TN. (Phil Vassar Official Website) - Starting in May, getting your morning started will begin with a new song, as Phil Vassar's latest offering has been named the theme song for NBC's Today Show segment "Live for Today." The segment will be a regular report from the Today Show about the Top 50 things everyone should get to do before they die. Phil will visit the Today Show on Monday, May 2nd to debut "Live for Today" in a live performance. It will also kick-off the premiere airing of the segment. The upbeat song was chosen by NBC and Today Show executives from a pool of hundreds of submissions. "Yesterday's gone, tomorrow's on its way...live for today,' Phil sings as the song winds through our daily activities, possibilities and dreams. Phil has been on tour to support his latest Arista Nashville album, "Shaken Not Stirred," which has already produced the No 1 single "In A Real Love." The follow up hit, "I'll Take That As A Yes (The Hot Tub Song)," debuted this week at No 95 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. Vassar began his career performing his growing repertoire of original songs at his Nashville club-restaurant. Before embarking on his solo career, which has produced more than half a dozen Top 10 hits (including his break out No 1 single "Just Another Day In Paradise"), Vassar penned hits for a number of top artists including Tim McGraw ("My Next Thirty Years"), Alan Jackson ("Right on the Money"), and Jo Dee Messina ("Bye Bye"). He has earned numerous songwriting awards as well as new artist distinctions from Academy of County Music (ACM), Country Music Association (CMA), R&R Magazine and Gavin. Vassar is also one of three celebrity judges on the USA Network's talent search series "Nashville Star," and his tour schedule keeps him out on the road presenting his energetic performances that have earned fan support and widespread critical acclaim.
