NASHVILLE, TN. (Sony Nashville) - Acclaimed country performer
Travis Tritt is parting ways with his record label, Columbia Records, a division of Sony/Nashville. Tritt has recorded three albums for the label, most recently the highly-regarded My Honky Tonk History. Despite releasing the most highly-praised release of his storied career, Tritt differed with Sony on the project's direction, leading to the split.
My Honky Tonk History was one of the most acclaimed country releases of 2004, ending up on year-end critics' pick lists in the Detroit Free Press, Associated Press, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Dallas Morning News and others.
Moving forward, Tritt has a number of high-profile appearances in the coming days and weeks. In New York, Travis has back-to-back performances starting Tuesday. First up is a show at B.B. King's in Manhattan, a portion of which will be broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio's America station. Later that evening (April 26), Travis plays the Jammy Awards, held in Madison Square Garden. He joins Sinead O'Connor, Buddy Guy and Bruce Hornsby, as well as host and Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh for the show, which is produced by Relix Magazine, Jambands.com and Peter Shapiro.
Travis will also be traveling to Germany on May 4th to perform for 7000 troops returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Brig. Gen. Russell L. Frutiger, U. S. Army Europe Deputy Chief of Staff, said "we appreciate Travis coming. This is the last of four and the biggest 1st Infantry Division welcome home ceremony."
On April 24, he performed at the Eagle Claw 25th Commemorative Dinner, benefiting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. The Foundation provides college scholarship grants to children of Special Operations personnel who were killed in an operational mission or training accident.
"It was truly an honor to be asked to perform at this fundraiser," Tritt said about the event. "These soldiers have given their lives for freedom."
Widespread exposure continues to be in the cards as Tritt recently taped another round of Celebrity Poker, airing on Bravo later this year. Other upcoming media appearances include Hannity and Colmes, AOL Sessions, CNN Showbiz Tonight, and Blue Collar TV. One of the genre's best live performers, Tritt maintains an exhaustive tour schedule running through year's end.
