Detroit Symphony Orchestra to Honor Legacy of Max M. Fisher: Memorial Concert Will Celebrate the Lives of Those Who Have Been Loved and Lost

DETROIT, MI. (Detroit Symphony Orchestra) - The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will honor the legacy of the late Max M. Fisher with a special free performance on Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m., in the facility that bears his name: the Max M. Fisher Music Center. Titled "Concert of Remembrance," the performance will also be dedicated to all loved ones who have passed, but whose lives and memories continue to be celebrated by families, friends and colleagues. The community is invited to join the DSO for this program led by Resident Conductor Thomas Wilkins, which is intended to be an uplifting occasion for remembering and paying tribute to many cherished individuals loved and lost, through the music performed. The musical selections will be announced at a later date.

"This year has been marked by a number of profound losses in our DSO family," says Anne Parsons, DSO President and Executive Director. "Our great friend and benefactor Max Fisher passed away on March 3, and we also recently lost previous DSO music director Sixten Ehrling and music advisor Gary Bertini. While it is difficult not to have these individuals among us anymore, we want to honor their memories and celebrate the gift of their friendship. I hope everyone in the community will join us for this concert, especially if they have someone special they would like to remember."
