NASHVILLE, TN. (www.crystalgayle.com) - Millions of American Idol fans watched in awe as Miami's Nadia Turner was eliminated from the Idol competition this past Wednesday. Nadia Turner was eliminated from Fox TV's American Idol competition on Wednesday night after her final performance in which she elected to sing 'When I Dream,' a chart-topping hit made famous by the world's most renowned country diva and country music's first female cross-over artist, Crystal Gayle. Crystal Gayle's 'When I Dream' was a huge success for the international star (it appeared on the multi-million selling album by the same name) and she finds it difficult to sit 'idle' not to extend her personal support of Nadia. 'It was evident that Nadia took a leap of faith to select a ballad—this ballad in particular. I think the judges and fans may not really be aware that to perform a ballad, any ballad, with the heart and soul that Nadia clearly exhibited in her performance of ‘When I Dream' demonstrated exceptional talent. She made this song her own with gallant artistry.' American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, who shared his closing comments as to Turner's performance of the song, conveyed the selection was '...an appalling choice of songs and I think you could go home after that' adding that 'it was the musical equivalent of wallpaper.' Crystal Gayle has this to add to Cowell's judgment, 'I think there is a lot of beautiful wallpaper out there and Nadia is a creative and extraordinary designer!' Defying the judge's and fan's expectations, Nadia supported her final song selection to say ' 'When I Dream' was a song about dreaming and I've always been a dreamer,' she said. Gayle supports Nadia's sentiment, 'You were true to yourself! Continue to Dream!' Turner, who finished eighth out of more than 100,000 Idol contestants is just getting started. Gayle has performed more than 3,500 concerts worldwide in front of over 10 Million fans and she feels confident Turner will continue to be successful. Idol or not!
