New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Recently named as one of BBC Radio One new music champ Huw Stephens' Ones To Watch 2019, rapidly-rising Brighton alt-pop quartet ORCHARDS are pleased to announce a brand new 7" single 'Young' / 'Mature Me' set for release on 29th March 2019 via Big Scary Monsters

The record is available to preorder now from: www.bsmrocks.com/

"I suppose at the heart of it, 'Young' is about unrequited love, but a love that you've learned with hindsight wasn't right for you in the first place," explains vocalist Lucy Evers of the A-side to the new single. "It's about wanting to go back to that initial moment and live in it. The hardest and most rewarding part to write was the spoken-word section. Poetry has always been something I adore but never thought I'd be able to combine with music, but now here it is!

"We all slowly fell in love with the song over the recording process, exploring the possibilities of it and really looking at how we could knock our songwriting and musicianship up a gear."

Alongside the news of the 7" single, the band are also delighted to announce they will play this year's SXSW festival in Austin, Texas with a short run of dates in New York at New Colossus Festival preceding the appearance.

Commenting on their first appearance in the States, Evers adds: "It's going to be such a whirlwind few months for us and we all couldn't be happier about it. It's been a dream for all of us playing in NYC and SXSW and I'm not sure the realisation of it all has hit us just yet. We're so lucky to be able to play such amazing showcases at both festivals. Bring it on."

The band embark on their first ever UK headline tour this March/April 2019—tickets are on sale now, with the London date at Camden Assembly already SOLD OUT.

2018 was a stellar year for Orchards, which saw them on tour dates alongside Tiny Moving Parts; selling out their own debut headline London show; support slots with Hippo Campus, Fatherson and more; and a string of packed festival appearances at ArcTanGent, TRUCK, The Great Escape, and Hit The North, among many others.

Praise for the band's material has been flooding in from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6Music, Noisey, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Alternative Press, Pop Matters, DORK, UPSET and a host of blogs and zines.
