NASHVILLE, TN. (Capitol Nashville) - Songs About Me, the latest CD from country giant Trace Adkins, made its debut at No 1 on the country albums chart this week, selling 62,867 units out of the box. This is the second chart-topping CD for Adkins in the past 18 months and marks the third consecutive time he's broken his career record for first week sales.
In fact, his past three albums (Greatest Hits Vol. 1, Comin' On Strong and Songs About Me) are currently on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, another unprecedented feat for Adkins.
After learning of the big news, a very thrilled Adkins replied, "Wow, I really wasn't expecting this, but I couldn't be happier. Once again, I feel like I have to give credit to everyone on the team for all of their hard work. This is a really good day!"
In July 2003, Adkins' Greatest Hits Collection charted at No 1 on the country albums chart and No 9 on Billboard's Top 200. At that time, Adkins had said 2003 was the biggest year for him since 1997, when he had his first platinum album and was winning all the industry awards. However, just five months later, he released another stellar album with Comin' On Strong that soon became his next platinum record and produced two smash hits with "Hot Mama" and "Rough and Ready."
Now, with the release of Songs About Me, Adkins is poised for yet another career breakthrough. With one of the most distinctive voices in country music history, Adkins has been reaping many of the rewards he has sown with a decade of hard work and a string of hits under his belt. In recent months, he's been featured on covers of major print publications, appeared on numerous TV shows, including "King Of The Hill," "Yes, Dear," "Blue Collar TV," "Emeril Live," "Fox & Friends," and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," to name a few. He's spent time as a national spokesman for KFC and has just announced a summer partnership with Waffle House, the widely popular 24-hour restaurant chain.
The title track and first single from Songs About Me is currently skyrocketing up the charts, adding to an ever-growing catalog of hits including "Every Light In The House Is On," "This Ain't No Thinkin' Thing," "Chrome" and the powerful "I'm Tryin'" and " Then They Do."
"Congratulations to Trace for another No 1 chart debut, " says Bill Kennedy, Capitol/Nashville's VP of Sales. "Look for more career songs from Songs About Me."
Adkins is on tour, headlining his own shows to packed houses across the country with one of the industry's highest energy shows. He is also continuing his co-headlining tour with country duo, Montgomery Gentry thru late April. For more information and complete list of tour dates, visit www.traceadkins.com
