NASHVILLE, TN. (RCA) - Country radio's most-played female artist of 2004, Sara Evans, will appear on the CBS Evening News on Tuesday, March 29 discussing the negative impact on songwriters of illegal peer-to-peer file sharing. Oral arguments will be heard before the United States Supreme Court tomorrow in a case called MGM v. Grokster, in which the nation's top court will face the latest challenge to the protection of copyrighted material. Grokster is a peer-to-peer (P2P) network that allows members to 'share' songs, movies, software and other creative works without paying for them. Numerous entertainment companies along with a broad coalition of recording artists, songwriters, authors, publishers, musicians, and many others are urging the Supreme Court to hold accountable those who profit from the theft of intellectual property. RCA Label Group RLG-Nashville is a unit of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, RLG's three country labels are Arista Nashville, BNA Records and RCA Records.
