NASHVILLE, TN. (Webster PR) - To commemorate the official release of her latest album project,
Chely Wright will take to the road visiting cities across the nation to present in person her latest collection of creative work-THE METROPOLITAN HOTEL. The album is scheduled to be released February 22 under the collective effort of Painted Red
Music Group (Wright's own independent company) and Dualtone
Music Group.
Beginning Tuesday, February 22, Chely will begin her aggressive schedule of album release activities. In celebration with her fans, she will make personal appearances at various Wal*Mart stores across the country (in San Diego on February 22, her hometown of Kansas City on the 23rd and in Daytona on Thursday, February 24). Chely will introduce her new CD entitled THE METROPOLITAN HOTEL, her sixth recorded album featuring 12 songs, 8 of which she wrote. 'This is my own handful of gems,' says Wright 'and I can hardly wait to share them!' Chely produced or co-produced them all. The in-store appearances at Wal*Mart are sponsored by Dr. Pepper and local radio stations.
In keeping with her personal mission to actively support our troops, Chely will continue her road tour making a special stop to visit with the military personnel stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina on Saturday, February 26, at the invitation of Camp Lejeune's Single Marine Program. Chely will spend the day with several infantry units including the School of Infantry, Marine Combat Training, Tank Battalion, and the Second Force Service Support Group in Training, Readiness and Tactics. She will close the day to perform for the Marines and their families, some of whom are expected to be deployed to Iraq in just a few weeks.
Camp Lejeune is the home of Expeditionary Forces in Readiness. For more than a half-century, Camp Lejeune has been the home base for the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2d Marine Division, 2d Force Service Support Group and other combat units and support commands. Today, as in the past, Camp Lejeune's mission remains the same-to maintain combat ready units for expeditionary deployment. The base is home to an active duty, family members, retiree and civilian employee population of nearly 150,000 people. In anticipation of her visit, Chely shares, 'Visiting Camp Lejeune hits home with me. My brother is a Marine. I know how these people feel and I understand their loyalties. I'm excited to spend the day with my extended family.'
Chely's single 'The Bumper Of My S.U.V.' remains at the top of the Billboard Country Singles Sales Chart –holding steady in the No. 1 spot for seven consecutive weeks.
Wright earmarked half of the proceeds from the sale of the single to Stars for Stripes, a non-profit organization that provides entertainment to deployed U.S. troops in remote areas. The organization recently sponsored a trip for Wright and her band to Iraq and Kuwait where she first performed 'The Bumper of My S.U.V.' The single is contained on Chely's new album (THE METROPOLITAN HOTEL) which will be available in stores such as Wal*Mart, Tower Records, Best Buy, Borders Books and Music, K-Mart, local military exchanges, and other retail outlets beginning February 22, 2005.
