NASHVILLE, TN. (D Records/ www.gladmusicco.com) - When
Lee Ann Womack fans get their copy of her brand new album, There's More Where That Came From, they might recognize the hidden track, 'Just Someone I Used to Know,' written by Jack Clement. The song was first recorded by
George Jones and was later recorded by
Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner,
Emmylou Harris and Ray Price.
'Just Someone I Used to Know,' is part owned by Glad Music, the historic publishing and record company in Houston, Texas. Glad Music, home to D Records, is responsible for helping to launch the careers of
George Jones,
George Strait and the Big Bopper.
'We are extremely exited to have a voice like Lee Ann's cutting this country classic,' says Glad
Music President Bud Daily. 'When Lee Ann's husband Frank Liddell called to share the news, we were elated!'
According to Lee Ann Womack's site, 'One day in the studio Lee Ann and (producer) Byron (Gallimore) found they had an extra hour left at the end of a session. 'Byron said, 'We have time to cut something that you love, just anything from the past.' I had been listening to The Essential Porter And Dolly, so I said, 'I'd love to cut 'Just Someone I Used To Know.' The guys didn't even ask which one that was, everybody just stood up, went to their instruments and started playing. We got a key and cut it.'
'We can't think of any female country artist more talented today than Lee Ann. It's an honor to have her cut a song out of the Glad Music Catalog,' says Daily.
