
NASHVILLE, TN. (Webster PR) - Merle Kilgore, one of the most significant songwriters and entertainers in American musical history, will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 in Nashville, Tennessee. He died the evening of February 6, 2005, from congestive heart failure onset from medical complications related to ongoing treatment for cancer over the last few months.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, sons Steve and Duane Kilgore, daughters, Pam Compton, Kim Pomeroy, and Shane McBee, 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
A 'Memorial Service' is set to take place at the Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, February 15, 2005, starting at 12:00 (noon). Visitation at the Ryman Auditorium for friends, family, and music industry will take place from 11:00 am – noon on Tuesday. The service is open to the public.
'Merle loved everyone and everyone loved Merle,' says publicist Kirt Webster. 'The memorial service is going to make Merle proud! Just like he would have wanted, there will be music, story telling, and this will be a full production.'
