CAPE BRETON (CBIDF) - Bruce and Gloria Jean Aitken, organizers of the ECMA-nominated Event of the Year, the Cape Breton International Drum Festival, today announced the line up for the 5th year celebration of the Festival. The event will be held at "the theatre of dreams," The Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, near Sydney, Cape Breton on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May Ist 2005.

"This year sees the return of Billy Ward from the 2001 festival, and of course by popular demand The World Ambassador of the Festival Mr Dom Famularo," said Bruce Aitken, adding "Gloria Jean and I are very excited to announce the 2005 lineup, which will include two of the four most recorded drummers in the history of modern music as we know it, the legendary Bernard Purdie and Motown Legend Uriel Jones (The Funk Brothers)."

Said Aitken, "This along with the ultimate in beyond interdependence, Marco Minnemann from Germany; also Tiger Bill Meligari from New York, jazz fusion master Will Kennedy (The Yellow Jackets) from L.A., Yvette "Baby Girl" Preyer (Michael MacDonald) Memphis Tennessee, Project A.D. (featuring Keith Dawson Jr & Bruce Aitken), world renowned tambourine and frame drum performer from Italy Alessandra Belloni, and from L.A. Gil Sharone from the band Stolen Babies. This is a great lineup of drummers dedicated to education and sharing their knowledge and skills; it's going to be an incredible show."

A major Festival highlight is the Otarion East Coast Showcase, which this year features Sydney's Alistair Hunston, Matt Casey from New Waterford, Joel MacNeil of Glace Bay, Simon Miminis from Newfoundland, Doug MacKay from Halifax, as well as Joe Macintyre and the New Brunswick Percussion Ensemble.

Aitken said "In addition to this amazing lineup of talent we will also have a trade show in the lobby of the Theatre."

Booking will be essential, as half the seats have already gone.
