Gayle and Lee Greenwood, two of the world's most popular and well known entertainers of our time, will join in the music industries overwhelming response to lend their hand to aid in the Tsunami disaster.
Gayle and Greenwood will offer their talents to perform at a very special concert event--An Evening for Restoration:
Music City Comes Together for Tsunami Relief. Spearheaded by the Gospel
Music Association (GMA), the benefit concert will bring together a number of Nashville's major music organizations as well as renowned artists from all genres to benefit World Vision, the international relief agency which already has thousands of staff members on the ground working in the stricken South Asian region where more than 200,000 people have died.
Co-hosted by Michael W. Smith and Kathy Mattea, An Evening for Restoration: Music City Comes Together for Tsunami Relief will take place on the one-month anniversary of the natural disaster the evening of Wednesday, February 26, 2005 at the Curb Event Center, Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Crystal and Lee join an extraordinary group of individuals including Steven Curtis Chapman, Marty Roe of Diamond Rio, CeCe Winans, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Steve Cropper, the Oak Ridge Boys, Kirk Whalum, tobyMac, MercyMe, The Whites, Raul Malo, The Crabb Family, Dr. Bobby Jones, Michael Martin Murphey, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra as well as some of their closed friends from the Grand Ole Opry in the one-night only event.
'The devastation in Asia takes my breath away. I have no words to describe the sadness that I feel for those families. With all of my heart, I am delighted to join our music community and my friends to offer my support in this poignant effort,' Crystal shares. Crystal will perform 'When I Dream" accompanied by the Nashville Symphony Chamber Orchestra.
Greenwood, who will perform the Bette Midler classic 'Wind Beneath My Wings' adds, 'This catastrophic event has affected us all. I want to do my part to help bring relief to those directly impacted. My thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of them.' In addition to the star-studded talent slated to perform, a number of music industry associations have joined together to support the event. Participating organizations include CMA, GMA, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, NSAI, IBMA, IEBA, NATD and others.
An Evening for Restoration: Music City Comes Together for Tsunami Relief will be heard live, exclusively on XM Satellite Radio. Bringing the historic event beyond the boundaries of Music City, the concert will be broadcast on XM Live (Channel 200) as well as America (XM Channel 10).
