 SYDNEY, AU (Reuters) - Kylie Minogue's position at the forefront of pop music worldwide was reaffirmed last night, when she scooped two awards at the 15th Annual ARIA Music Awards - Australia's answer to the Brits. The pint-sized starlet was awarded this year's Best Female Artist and Best Pop Release for her album, 'Light Years'. Kylie, who was in Sweden on tour last night, was clearly delighted as she told fans via a live satellite link-up. 'Thank you so much for letting me be myself, allowing me to try different things�I hope that I can continue to do more that you will be enjoying.' The awards signal the start of an historic week for Kylie who is likely to top both the UK single and album charts with 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and 'Fever' respectively. Other big winners of the night were Australian rock group, Powderfinger, who went home with a total of six awards including Album of the Year and Best Group. Melbourne dance act, The Avalanches, were the most successful new artists of the night. They took four awards including Best New Artist Album ('Since I Left You') and Single ('Frontier Psychiatrist'). Meanwhile, INXS were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
