NASHVILLE, TN. (Webster PR) - Mark Chesnutt (Vivaton Records), who on more than one occasion has made an honest admission as to his political incorrectness ("Political Incorrectness" recorded with Kevin Fowler/Equity Records-appears on Fowler's Loose Loud and Crazy CD), has been singled out for his clear demonstration of just the opposite. Mark Chesnutt has been selected as the first recipient to be honored with the 'W' Award. The first of its kind-making its debut-the 'W' Award is being presented to Mark by the Republican Party of Florida in gratitude and appreciation for his contribution and support in performing at the various Republication parties and rallies. The 'W' award ('W' being symbolic for George 'W' Bush) is bestowed upon select individuals (by the Republican Party) who have demonstrated extraordinary ability, patriotism and steadfast leadership. 'We recognize that all artists have prior commitments and heavy tour schedules and customarily do not wish to lean one way or the other to become involved in any presidential campaign. But, Mark clearly demonstrated his support by making himself available to perform at our rallies and he has a lot of republican fans out there. This is our way of thanking him for his help in getting George W. Bush re-elected,' says Carole Jean Jordan, Chairman, Republican Party of Florida. Mark has received the privileged invitation to appear at the official 'W' award ceremony during The Republican Party of Florida's Sequins and Stars Ball in Washington DC on Tuesday, January 18, 2005. The Sequins and Stars Ball is will be held during the 2005 Inaugural events. This recognition comes as quite surprise to Mark: 'It was awfully nice to be invited back to perform for George W. Bush and the Republican Party this past fall during the campaign, but this is an unexpected surprise. I would have been happy just going fishing with the President, but to get an award? That's pretty cool.'
Mark has been recognized in high regard both personally and as a fan by President Bush. He performed for the Republican Texas Delegation to the Republican National convention this fall; he performed at the Governor's Inaugural Ball for George W. Bush as well as the Presidential Inauguration - a Black Tie and Boots affair - four years ago.
