Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World Festival Confirms Initial 2015 Lineup: Ms. Lauryn Hill, Antibalas, Ozomatli+ More Play Flushing Meadow Corona Park June 20
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College is proud to announce the second annual Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World festival. This rich curation of music, art, and food will celebrate the life and legacy of Louis Armstrong and take place on June 20th at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the site of the 1964 World's Fair and steps away from the home of the Mets. This year's music lineup blends traditional jazz with modern favorites and boasts Ms. Lauryn Hill, Antibalas, Ozomatli, Rebirth Brass Band and the Shannon Powell Traditional All-Star Band. The event will be all ages and take place from 12PM to 8PM. Tickets for the entire day are free, and are available now here.

Louis Armstrong has deep ties to Queens - he lived at 34-55 107th Street in Corona from 1943 until his death in 1971. The house is a National Historic Landmark and is now the site of the Louis Armstrong House Museum. In addition to the Main Stage line-up, the festival's Backyard Bash will feature family friendly activities throughout the park and DJ sets in the Queens Museum, recreating the memorable garden parties that Louis hosted for his friends and neighbors.

Jeffrey Rosenstock, Executive Director of Kupferberg Center for the Arts says, "Louis Armstrong is in many ways the quintessential cultural ambassador for Queens. He's become an American icon whose immense cultural legacy has influenced musicians of every genre. We're excited to bring Ms. Lauryn Hill to headline Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World and celebrate Louis' vision of listening to 'all kinds of music' at the first major music festival to plant its flag in the city's most diverse borough."

2015 is already a banner year for Queens. Lonely Planet named it the #1 Place to Visit in 2015, and Time Out New York ran a cover story in January calling Queens New York City's hottest borough. Lonely Planet said, "Queens is New York's largest borough, and it's also becoming its hippest... with microbreweries springing up, new boutique hotels, a reinvented seaside, a world-class art scene, and a truly global food culture, 2015 is the year to try Queens." Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World festival aims to be an encapsulation of this very idea.

Stay tuned for more announcements on the music lineup, food, and art exhibits.
