Lowland Hum Releases Self-Titled Sophomore Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Indie-folk duo Lowland Hum have released their self-titled sophomore album. The record recently debuted as an NPR Music First Listen stream. "Benefiting from a freewheeling, beefed-up studio band, the dynamic range of this 13-song set runs from hushed insularity to ardent expansiveness, alighting on dozens of gradations between," writes NPR's Jewly Hight.

Popmatters also remarks that Lowland Hum is "further evidence of their ability to wield seamless harmonies and a hushed low cast glow."

Lowland Hum is now available for purchase via iTunes and streaming on Spotify.

Lowland Hum was also recently featured on NPR's All Songs Considered, where the song "Olivia" was premiered. Their single "Odell" first debuted on Earmilk, and the official music video first appeared on Nerdist who writes, "This is the perfect visual metaphor for Lowland Hum's atmospheric brand of emotionally intelligent folk."

The duo has also released a lyric video for "Olivia" which first premiered via Popmatters.

Coming off the heels of last November's Four Sisters EP, their new record intertwines folk, indie-rock and americana as a foundation for their entrancing vocal harmonies. The album's lead single "Odell" was mixed by Peter Katis, who previously produced records for The National, Interpol, Frightened Rabbit, and Jónsi.

Daniel and Lauren Goans began performing as Lowland Hum not long after they married in 2012, and quickly became known for the communal and artistic atmosphere of their live shows. Illuminated installations, hand-bound lyric and art books made their way into the duo's performances, incorporating Lauren's background in visual art. Her artisanal work also found its way into their hand-made album covers, as well as their unique video perspective on Valentine's Day. This mix of homespun artistry and musical hospitality serves the band's goal of bringing their audience into their own shared space and, as Daniel has said, "remove the 'transactional' nature of the artist / listener relationship."
