New York, NY (Top40 Charts) If there were ever an anticipated release by Americana's own, Jordan-Morgan Lansdowne, this is the one.
Lansdowne had made mention regarding a new album in mid-2014 after the home demo collection, "The Whispertone Sessions" was released via Paper + Plastick Records in March, but there were no giveaways as to when the album would start its production.
Digging further on the issue, we find that JML had originally planned to release his brand new album entitled, "June Letters," with his studio band, The Porcelain Dolls. But given the concentration of the album and the advice of record label executives, The Porcelain Dolls name would be pulled from the album's title and release.
"What you're listening to is The Porcelain Dolls," states JM Lansdowne, "I'm still singing and playing guitar, I haven't gone anywhere. The band's just backing me up."
"June Letters" has a darker tone than his other albums and offers a different side of the artist. Here's what Lansdowne says about the 2015 release:
"I set out to make a new album, not the same ones I've been putting out for the past 5 years. If this album sounded like The Sweet Hereafter, it wouldn't be a new record. I wouldn't call this "trying something on," I would call it a new record - recording evidence of growth as an artist. This is not a happy record. These songs are journal entries from the year I lost my sister. This is a record that talks about death, divorce, addiction, and other realities that this world has to offer. There is no hidden agenda, this is real life."
During the album's early stages of production in mid-October, Lansdowne reflects on direction and imperfection: "I wanted this album to feel like you've got the band sitting in your headphones. All mistakes included. You can't perfect a broken subject."
"June Letters" is set to release in April / May 2015 via She Says Records on maroon 10-inch vinyl. No digital download information has been released. The first radio single from "June Letters" is set to release in February 2015.
