Hot Topic Introduces Fashion Collection Designed By Rock Icon Joan Jett + Fashion Pioneer Tripp NYC
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Set to celebrate 25 years of being "all about the music," Hot Topic introduced the Joan Jett X TRIPP NYC Fashion Collection for Hot Topic - a collaboration between the retailer, rock & roll icon Joan Jett and TRIPP NYC designer Daang Goodman. This collection of rocker fashion basics fuses Jett's look and attitude with the downtown New York City street style practically invented by TRIPP NYC and popular with Hot Topic customers. View the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn7BW-ncFA0. The collection will be available exclusively at Hot Topic Nov. 4.

"Early on in our history, Hot Topic became known as a destination for alternative rocker fashion. So, for our 25th anniversary, we wanted to create a collection to celebrate that, and our love for rock music," said Cindy Levitt, Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing at Hot Topic. "We thought Joan Jett and our longtime partner TRIPP NYC were perfect to help make a great collection happen."

Joan Jett is a rock & roll icon, the head of her own independent label Blackheart Records, and the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts. She's had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson And Clover." Jett is credited with breaking down barriers for women in the rock & roll scene beginning at the age of 15, when she co-founded the successful all-woman punk band The Runaways. She has continued to be a beacon for female artists throughout her long and successful career.

"Working with Daang and TRIPP NYC was effortless, as we approached this collection from the same fashion sensibility and DIY spirit," said Jett. "I'm blown away by how the collection turned out - these clothes are some of my favorite new additions to my closet."

Goodman's TRIPP NYC has for decades been a go-to brand for musicians, and over the years has designed rock fashion pieces - zippered pants, moto jackets, dresses and more - that have become a part of the signature Hot Topic look. For this collection, Goodman drew inspiration from Jett's style, music, lyrics and attitude to design eight "rock fashion basics" - the key pieces to a rocker's wardrobe. "When I finally met Joan, I felt as if I'd known her forever, and was so excited to be working with her," Goodman said. "I've been designing for a girl like Joan all of my life! And I know the Hot Topic girl is going to love it!"

The Joan Jett X TRIPP NYC Fashion Collection for Hot Topic is independent, iconic and timeless - yet very modern. Each piece includes a special detail - vegan leather, metal or lacing - as well as a label featuring lightning bolts inside a heart - a mashup of the TRIPP NYC and Blackheart logos.

The Joan Jett x TRIPP NYC Fashion Collection for Hot Topic features eight pieces:
Black Twill Skinny Jean with Pleather Insets and Metal Zippers -- $44.50
Red Twill Skinny Jean with Pleather Lace-up Hem -- $44.50
Black Twill Belted Moto Jacket with Lace-up Sleeves -- $64.50

About Joan Jett
Founded by Joan Jett in 1980 with long time songwriting partner and producer Kenny Laguna, Blackheart Records was the first female artist owned and operated independent record label. It was founded after 23 major and minor record labels rejected Jett and the idea of a woman with an electric guitar. Joan and Kenny then decided to press records themselves and sell them out of the trunk of Kenny's Cadillac at shows. It was almost immediately that they had a hit on their hands; "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" which cemented the future of Blackheart. They went on to stockpile hits such as "Bad Reputation," "Do You Wanna Touch Me," "Crimson and Clover," and many others. Three decades later, Blackheart Records has held true to its indie, DIY spirit. What started as [literally] a vehicle through which Jett released her own music is now an institution that not only signs up-and-coming bands, but also works in the realm of fashion, film (Undateable John is due for release in 2015) and more. Along with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, fierce talent such as Girl In a Coma, The Vacancies, The Dollyrots, The Cute Lepers, The Eyeliners and others have graced the Blackheart roster. Fea, a new project from Girl in a Coma's Phanie Diaz and Jen Alva, will be released on Blackheart in 2015.
