Gretchen Wilson literally exploded onto the national scene with her smash hit single "
Redneck Woman" and chart-topping debut album "Here For The Party." With the album at record-breaking sales of over two million, TV appearances and coast-to-coast touring, fans are clamoring for more of their favorite new star of 2004. Epic records is set to release a deluxe, limited edition two disc CD/DVD package featuring all the great music from "
Here For The Party" plus live performances, never-before-seen footage and more on November 9, 2004.
Disc One will include the 10 songs that comprise "Here For The Party," the album Rolling Stone opined, "on this debut, her vocals are just as brassy as her attitude, but she also proves you can be sandpaper-raw and still be complicated."
Disc Two is a DVD that includes a photo gallery and music videos for "Redneck Woman" and "Here For The Party." Up Close & Personal With Gretchen Wilson: An exclusive behind the scenes documentary on the disc includes live versions of "Homewrecker," "When I Think About Cheatin'," "When It Rains," "Holdin' You" and "Pocahontas Proud."
"When an artist gets this big this fast, people want to know more," said Sony Music Nashville president John Grady. "This package is about giving more of Gretchen Wilson to her fans."
Gretchen made her mark in the music history books when she became the first act to ever debut at No 1 on the Billboard's Country Music Chart and No 2 on the trade magazine's Top 200 Chart with over 226,900 units sold in the first week. "Here For The Party" went on to spend a record nine weeks at the top of the country album charts and was certified platinum (1,000,000 units sold) in just four weeks and double platinum about five weeks later. Her debut single, the anthemic "Redneck Woman" spent a record six weeks at No 1.
In addition to major network television appearances, touring with Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Martina McBride, Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney, Gretchen was seen through the month of September on Great American Country's (GAC) "Straight Up" show. CMT (Country Music Television) will feature the star on the newest installment of their popular "In The Moment" through October.
A camera crew followed her from her album release party at a small club in St. Louis on May 11 through her sold-out performance with Brooks & Dunn in front of 20,000 fans back in St. Louis on August 27 and offers the viewer and in-depth look at the life of Gretchen Wilson.
The Country Music Association recently honored her with an impressive five nominations at the upcoming awards show - Single, Song and Video of the Year for "Redneck Woman," the coveted Album of the Year for "Here For The Party" and the Horizon Award for the top new artist in country music. The show will be broadcast on CBS Television November 9, 2004.
