NASHVILLE, TN. (DreamWors Nashville) - It's becoming almost routine: when
Toby Keith comes to town, attendance records are smashed. That's what happened the other night in Pittsburgh when Toby's "Big Throwdown" toured rolled into town to play for a sell-out crowd at the Post-Gazette Pavilion. The venue closed out its 2004 season with the biggest concert of the year, with Toby packing in more than 26,000 fans, an all-time record.
"We've retired the number," says Clear Channel Entertainment's Brian O'Connell, Toby's tour promoter. "No one will ever break that record. As the tour keeps moving forward, the enthusiasm and crowds keep growing, so this is shaping up to be Toby's biggest year on the road ever."
In its review, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said, "Toby Keith thrilled an enthusiastic capacity crowd with some 90 minutes of hit country songs, fireworks, and confetti."
Toby has been nominated in the Male Vocalist and Best Country Album categories for this year's American
Music Awards, and is scheduled to perform on the AMA's Nov. 14. In addition, he has been nominated for two
Radio Music Awards for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for his smash hit single "I Love This Bar."
The reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year also recently received six nominations for the CMA Awards, among them Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, Single, Video and Musical Event. He will perform at the ceremony set for November 9.
Toby's latest album "Shock 'n Y'all" has been certified quadruple-platinum, while the single "Stays In Mexico," from his upcoming release "Toby Keith Greatest Hits 2," is currently Top 10 after becoming the highest debuting single of his career. The new album is scheduled to be in stores in November 9th.
