NASHVILLE, TN (Brett Dennen Official Website/ www.brettdennen.com) - Singer-songwriter Brett Dennen will receive the "Earth Charter and the Arts Award" from the Citizens for Peaceful Resolutions (CPR) at their 3rd Annual Earth Charter Summit on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Ventura, Calif. The Earth Charter is a declaration of fundamental principles for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society for the 21st century.

Dennen's lyrics are an inspiring call to social action, and he promotes peaceful ideals through his music. Dennen co-founded The Mosaic Project, an outdoor school in California that unites racially diverse fifth grade students from different schools and income areas in a forum for peace education to build self-esteem and a sense of community. He serves as one of The Mosaic Project's program directors and developed the music curriculum, writing original songs that he teaches to the students.

"I believe that peace is possible and will be the greatest achievement ever known to humanity. In order to achieve this, we must know and love ourselves, respect others and have empathy for them and their differences. We must be committed to resolving conflicts nonviolently, we must generate a profound understanding and love for the natural world, and we must be open to possibilities beyond our own beliefs. I work with Mosaic Project, because we achieve all of these things with children in the outdoors through education, music and play," Dennen said about his involvement.

Anticipation for Dennen's sophomore album, "So Much More," continues to build as the October 17th release date approaches. He will be featured in an upcoming edition of NPR's "Day to Day" program and was the No. 1 most requested artist after a recent in-studio visit to Santa Monica radio station KCRW-FM, a tastemaker in the area. Dennen will perform at Michael Franti's "911 Power to the Peaceful" Festival, an international day of art and culture to promote non-violence. Other appearances include Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival in September.

Grammy Award winner John Mayer was quoted in Rolling Stone's "Breaking" column: "He's timeless-he's probably 25, but he seems like he's 25 in 1972. He paints these gorgeous pictures musically, where you think, 'I want to hear his voice, I want to hear that guitar, and I want to hear those melodies.'"
Dennen will open for the Mayer/Sheryl Crow tour this fall.
