Faithless new album debuts at No 1 on the UK Albums Chart this week and the Britain's premier musical collective band will release 'No Roots' in the US on July 20th

NEW YORK (BMG) - Europe's revered dance music collective Faithless, will release their new album on J/Cheeky Records in the United States on July 20th. NO ROOTS debuted in the UK at No 1 on the UK sales chart this week, and is the fourth album from Faithless, who have sold in excess of 6 million albums, over 4 million singles, and have over 30 gold or platinum disks world-wide.

NO ROOTS is Faithless' most socio-politically aware album to date, their most coherent statement. The lyrics of both Maxi Jazz and LSK are inspired. The album also sees Faithless at their most melodic and emotional: the usual beauty in electronics, augmented by guitars, dub bass lines and rock solid grooves. "The theme we chose was love, in the macro and the micros sense," says Bliss. "We felt this was a platform to say something about what is going on today. It involves questions about how we live, and leadership, and how we're involved in each other's lives. We thought this album was definitely a chance to make a stand and be counted."

Faithless carry on their theme of what is happening in the world right now, with "Mass Destruction," the first single from the album, about a child whose father has gone off to war. "The chorus is simply that the most potent weapon of mass destruction is in our heads. That's what is about," explains Maxi.

MTV showing their commitment across the board has added the video for "Mass Destruction" to MTV, MTV2, and mtvU beginning on June 21st. mtvU, which is the largest national television network for college students, will break out of the box with over 30 spins a week.

NO ROOTS is Faithless at their best and most adventurous. Produced-as-usual by Rollo and Sister Bliss, with vocals from long-standing front man and MC Maxi Jazz and guest vocals from LSK, and the internationally successful chanteuse Dido. This album was created as two continuous pieces of music. All the songs are written in the key of 'c' and it was only after the whole album had been made as an instrumental piece by Rollo and Sister Bliss that it was played to Maxi, LSK and Dido.

Faithless' Sister Bliss is not only one of the most famous female DJs in the world, she also plays all the instruments on this album. She is the woman who has created the riffs from "Insomnia" to "We Come 1" that have ignited dance floors and inspired and moved millions. On this album her ear for melody is at its peak. The album features a new band member - LSK: hailing from Leeds. Faithless heard his album 'Outlaw' (Sony) and invited him to come down and write one track with them. They all enjoyed it so much that he ended up doing five.
As Rollo says, "If we died and went to heaven tomorrow this is the album we would want to leave behind."
