Mexico City, Mexico (Top40 Charts/ Berklee College of Music) Berklee College of Music and Mexican public television network Television Mexiquense (Canal 34) today announced the launch of Berklee Studio Sessions, a new TV series featuring acoustic performances and interviews with renowned Hispanic singer-songwriters in a unique, intimate setting. The artists, many of whom are Berklee alumni, will talk about their careers, sources of inspiration, and the importance of music education. Over the course of the season, Berklee will award four, full-tuition Five-Week Summer Performance Program scholarships to Mexican musicians. The series is co-produced by Berklee alumni Daniel Dayz, from Mexico, and Javier Samayoa, from Guatemala.

Berklee Studio Sessions will be broadcasted weekly, starting on Thursday, June 9 at 6 p.m. CDT on Canal 34, in Mexico, and Mexicanal, in the U.S., with extended reach to the Caribbean, Central America, most of South America, and Canada. It will also be streamed live on Television Mexiquense at https://www1.edomexico.gob.mx/tvmex. Berklee and Television Mexiquense celebrated the series launch May 31 at a private event held at the Voila Antara, in Mexico City.

Each 30-minute episode will showcase a different artist. The first season will feature Latin Grammy Award-winning Mexican artist and Berklee alumnus Alexander Acha (son of the famous Mexican singer Emmanuel); Grammy Award-winning Mexican singer Aida Cuevas; Oscar-winning Uruguayan artist Jorge Drexler; Mexican singer-songwriter, actor, and Berklee alumnus Mane de la Parra; Mexican singer-songwriter, and former singer of the superstar pop duo Sin Bandera, Leonel Garcia; Peruvian superstar Gian Marco; Berklee alumni and winners of the 2009 Berklee Canta en Espanol songwriting contest Daniel Dayz and Joel Waldman; and other new talent. Berklee Studio Sessions is the first Mexican TV show filmed in high-definition with Canon's 5D and 7D cameras.
