FRAMINGHAM, MA. (IDG World Expo/ www.idg.com) - IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets, today announced "Macworld After Dark," a concert, sponsored by Playlist, featuring The Jackie Greene Band - led by singer, songwriter and musician Jackie Greene (http://www.jackie-greene.com).
The concert will take place at Moscone Center on Wednesday, January 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is open, without charge, to all registered attendees of Macworld Conference & Expo(R) in San Francisco which takes place January 10-14, 2005 at the Moscone Center.
In describing the music of Jackie Greene, the band's record label DIG Music said, "Greene is strikingly unself-conscious in the way he envisions his time-out-of-mind place. His voice is big and casually seductive in the way that Bob Dylan and Tom Waits and Gregg Allman's voices are. His tone and inflections seem naturally born, from an old soul inhabiting a skinny body. When he needs to wail and growl, the words pour out like smooth whiskey; when he offers intimacies, they can almost seem too private. Like his heroes, Dylan and Waits, his source material embraces folk, blues and country; the end result is both cutting edge and timeless."
Macworld After Dark is sponsored by Playlist, a comprehensive magazine and Web site, covering the iPod and digital music technologies. The magazine spotlights digital music technology, the digital lifestyle, and music artists. The Web site, PlaylistMag.com (http://playlistmag.com), features free music downloads in every style, playlists from musicians and celebrities, and a community forum where users can share their tips, tricks and even their own playlists with other digital music fans.
Macworld After Dark is just one of many music-related programs at this year's Macworld Conference & Expo. It was announced on December 16, 2004 that several music stars will perform in the exhibit hall in front of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a unique non-profit state-of-the-art mobile recording and multimedia studio. The concerts are without charge for all registered attendees of Macworld Conference & Expo and include:
